Or is it just RNG randomness? Or does it matter? Does Pherin have it's own chance and is not dependent on any other spawns or what? Hence the question - if we knew how to better spawn a specific mob, we could be more targeted when trying to spawn a specific mob for a specific drop since it seems SOE has made named spawns rarer than before and their drops even more rare Mostly, having spent collective weeks worth of my waking hours on Allakhazam and Illia's bestiary, I have some clue about this stuff.
Mob, yes, zone, sometimes, server, never. This can happen due to randomness, or simple desire of the game engineers to have one named be more rare due to value of its loot, or due to player base need.
I don't have specific evidence to the contrary, or in support of, Pherin versus Taath's spawn commonality, I'm sorry. Spawn rates on mobs tend to be entirely random, thus for you, Kyris might spawn repeatedly over a short time, while another person "camping" her, may not see her at all. The trend of named in SoF and SoD seems to be: Zone rare mobs, spawn at any point that can spawn a creature of their model type With perhaps a random 0.
That's the other thing, your topic question made me wonder if you had ever camped anything in Solusek A, or the Karanas, or an epic mob, because 'spawn rates' differ for almost every mob, about as much as spawn times do. Some cycles are seconds, some 90 seconds, some 22 minutes, some 8 hours or 12 or 24 or There are nearly endless "spawn time" numbers, because in certain rooms of the game, it is bugged that mobs will respawn in miliseconds, or respawn when pulled rather than when killed.
There used to be a room in The Hole, before it was revamped, where things respawned in under a minute, and it was some of the best experience ever, because if your group could drop six mobs in a minute, you had a steady stream of exp, I could be mistaken, as I believe it was instant repop, but it might just have been that my groups sucked back in the day and it was taking us six minutes to kill one, so another one would be repopped by the time we were done, who knows?
However, no, the spawn rates are not server specific. The only way a spawn rate is server specific, is if there is some twat permacamping a mob, who is always there when the mob repops, then you have effectively 0 spawn rate for anyone else.
To answer your question if you want a certain named mob, the only way that it would make a difference, 'only' killing Pherin's placeholder, is if killing Taath's placeholder and pulling mobs to get between the two, took your group too long and you had to leave the other placeholder up for more than 30 seconds as you fought or invised back to it to slay it again.
So the answer is yes, kill that mob's placeholder, killing any other mobs placeholder will not affect how often that mob respawns as the named however. So go ahead and Kill pherinn and Taath, they're independent of each other Unless they're in a 'named cycle, like the old froglok hunter and forager cycle with all the piddly mobs, or the quillmane cycle. To my knowledge, no named in SoD or even SoF is in a cycle of creatures that contains another named mob, unless there is a chance that the animals in dragonscale hills repop as different animals in the same mob spot.
With my only exception being a personal nitpick about a Sony decision: While supposedly it can spawn in two different spots, I'd like to introduce you to Library Director Eslisar in Kaesora Library. I am fairly certain that amongst the members of this board we have probably killed those phs thousands of times, and very few of us have seen her, let alone gotten the aug from her. But yeah, in general it won't make any difference what other mobs you kill to make something spawn.
Pherin spawned quite often for me the couple times I did that camp. He just never once dropped the fucking ring is the problem. I got at least 10 of the melee items. Wow - thank you very much for the well thought-out response.
Really appreciate it - I guess it is kill until he pops. We kill fast enough that both ph's are down and we clear the area just for fun. That camp sucks cause they made it so that you get almost zero xp for killing dragorns - so you get sucky xp killing there. Thanks again - looks like it's back to the grind. And ya, I'm a fairly new player so I haven't had the "experience" of grinding in old zones. I started just before SoF. Quick question - from the above, the total percentage is over - is that just a typo?
Or can it really be over ? From what I can see, Pherin might really look like this Must have been a typo, the same dev stated that some broken spawns in history where as a result of the numbers not adding to Tearsin, what's hilarious is after I answered this post from work, I went home, camped the ancient Cyclops on my druid with a newbie shadowknight in guild, and after sand giant housman, or Husam, whatever, the ancient cyclops was up over the next hill after about a one minute AFK.
I'm not sure whether I was just lazy looking through track, and it had been up when we zoned in, or if something slew a desert madman without my knowledge, or what, but I ran up and konked the ancient cyclops in the head once with the druid, proc'ed hand of holy vengeance and accidentally hit stormstrike, and he was dead, the poor shadowknight didn't even have a chance to get the slaying blow.
She wanted it for roleplay purposes. Also to Darkmourn, my fault for making assumptions, I'm still only in Tier 2 SoD, with a couple of things from Tier 3, and one item from Bloodfields, due to guild group progression. Hopefully the mob spawn rate is faster than twenty two minutes at least? I was basically quoting a mage epic camp for the 1. Sorry for thread hijack on this post, I'll go back to work and let everyone be. I wasn't complaining about you, just Sony, for making one mob so insanely rare.
The problem is, if you need to kill her the full times to meet the average, it could take you a year. Nothing to do with you, or your assessment. In general you are correct. There are always going to be exceptions, but in general what you said is the way things are.
